A WALK IN THE WOODS
WHO WE ARE . . .
when children played outside all day? Has a child’s time using indoor electronics replaced outdoor adventure? We hope not and think you might agree. Children
invent worlds of wonder when exploring fields, woods and streams. They discover themselves. Our goal is to connect children
by introducing them to animals
they may have never experienced or heard of before. Best of all, we bring it all to you with our hands-on science programs.

WHAT WE BRING TO YOU IN OUR SCIENCE PROGRAMS . . .
We have a large diversity of science program
themes to select from. You can learn about habitats
in our programs on tropical rainforests
, coral reefs
, North Carolina wildlife
or find out about different groups of animals
. Each one of our museum based programs has a multi-sensory approach to learning. In the slide presentation, children learn about exotic animals, fascinating facts and interesting environments. Children can discover different textures, shapes, colors and patterns when touching a variety of hands-on artifacts on display. Many of these artifacts are uncommon, rare or endangered typically seen only at a museum. The highlight of the program is the hands-on live animals
. When a child touches an animal
, one they have never touched before, you can see a powerful connection happening right before your eyes. It is a magical moment and something they will not forget!

WHO WE SERVE . . .
We welcome all ages who want to learn the benefits of nature
from young to old. You will find each program
is filled with science activities
that stimulate inquisitive thinking. By the time a participant leaves one of our programs
, it is already difficult for them to pick out their favorite part of what they have just seen, learned and touched. Most importantly, they are inspired to explore the outdoors and enjoy a walk in the woods
